and now for a more interesting post......

As I was waiting to get into work this morning, I could feel a slight pressure on my upper chest, left side. It came and went through the morning then about 11:45 the pressure increased, like someone poking a finger in me just above my ribs, and I felt distinctly woozy. The nurse from Healthcare came over and said my pulse was a bit irregular and I should go to my doctors asap. I asked my colleague to take me in his 4x4 - I didn't want to risk passing out at the wheel and the snow was really getting into its stride by then.

Poor guy had to sit in his jeep for an hour before I resurfaced. I had to wait to see the GP who listened to my murmur again (very subtle today, apparently) and said my pulse was fine but to be on the safe side, prescribed aspirin and a spray for under the tongue in case the chest pain got worse. (It had, of course, eased off by then.) She also wanted me to have an ECG so I waited for the nurse to be free, stripped off and wired up, then waited for the doctor to finish with her next patient so I could show her the ECG tracing. All OK. Don't you just hate that - I wouldn't be surprised if she types 'hypochondriac' somewhere in my notes.

Anyway, getting back to the ECG for a moment. What's wrong with this picture?

No, that really IS my leg up on the kitchen table -I'm surprisingly limber, you know.

Well done Annie - you got it! I was wearing sheer nude knee highs and the nurse thought she was sticking the tag on my bare leg. She only realised when removing the tags and pulled up the stocking attached to the one on my leg! Both leg tags were stuck fast so I had to throw the knee highs away.

Oh Lily, what a scare! I hope you are OK. Thinking of you my dear. Take care.

Was you leg's ECG OK too?

Thanks rilera x
Lol Dame H, well no-one told me otherwise although perhaps the non-deliberate mistake might have skewed the results.........

Hi lily, I have been lurking and decided to post today. Your tootsies look very swollen along with your foot. A bit of edema (water retention) it looks like. I do hope you can get some answers and start feeling better. Don't let the dr.s snowball you into thinking this is in your head. You know your body better than anyone. Keep at it and find someone who will listen and help you.
Take care:)

Lily, you need someone to paint your toenails.
And what is that yellow thing? A squshed Bumle-Bee?
Happy Valley Day!

Hi Chris, thanks for coming out of the ether! Actually I have teensy weensy feet (small size three) and my toes have always looked like little chubby chips but you could be right about the ankles.
Is that an offer, bulletholes?! A bumle-bee ... that would be a fat-arsed honey-maker then?
By the way, nobody has guessed the peculiarity yet.

Hi Lily, was that bumble bee supposed to be mid calf? That should have been on your foot maybe? Or ankle?

rilera, you're not right but you're definitely getting warmer!

lol, I recognize that sticker on your leg. Had the same type of scare myself recently and had to get an ECG. Am waiting for the results. My symptoms were, irregular heart beat, feeling faint and shortness of breath. The doctor gave me beta blockers for the heart and as of yesterday all symptoms have gone and heart beating regularly.

I know, I know! Thats your left foot! You are so weird!

So glad you're better, oldcrow x
Lol bulletholes, nope wrong again.
I can see I'll have to give you a clue..I was wearing short boots and trousers when I went for my ECG so the nurse had to roll my trouser legs up a little to apply the yellow sticky thing. If she'd rolled them further up she'd have realised.......

I have no idea. Another clue please? Or maybe you could just tell us? The suspense! The suspense!

Annie said...

Ooh, wait, maybe I do know. She didn't know you were wearing hose and it should have been applied directly to the leg, not atop the hose? Is that it? Do I win a prize?

Thanks willcee, I'm fine, I just haven't felt motivated enough to blog the last few days - same old, same old. Don't worry, like the governator, I'll be back!

Annie, you got it! Well done that woman x
