my home made aphasia communication chart -

When I started this blog in March 2008, I was steadily losing my grip, trying to cope with mum's (undiagnosed at that point) dementia and full time work. Prozac eventually saved me from total meltdown and mum spent her last couple of years much more settled in a care home. She died, aged 92, on 10 November 2011. Life will be very different from now on............

That looks excellent! I don't know if I would have thought to add the "point to where the pain is" part, but it's genius. I hope it works for your Mum.
Thanks Greg! Going to show it to the care home staff first as I've a sneaking suspicion I may have left out some vital topics - they'll know better than I what needs come up regularly. Then when I'm happy with it, I'll laminate it at work and try it out on mum! I found a load of communication charts on Google Image but they were quite disappointing - not very clear and either too simple or too complicated. You never know, I could patent mine - you saw it here first!
Hi Lily,
My name is Ann and I live in the US. I've been following your blog for a while now, since my Dad was diagnosed with dementia. He is still more or less functional, not yet bed-ridden, but he has aphasia at times too, so I'll definitely keep your chart in mind! What a great idea and a lovely design!
Regards
hi Ann! Thanks for the support - watch this space for an improved version of the chart soon, feel free to download and use it yourself x
